Audio can sound good in a local recording and bad in a call because different apps use different input devices and processing settings. Test the complete signal path before a live session.

  1. Select your physical microphone in the audio tool, if you use one.
  2. Select the tool's virtual microphone in the call or stream app, if required by that tool.
  3. Disable duplicate processing if two apps are both removing noise or adjusting levels.
  4. Record or use the app's test feature to hear the same output your audience receives.
  5. Have a fallback: your physical microphone selected directly.

Settings and menu names change, so consult the current documentation for your operating system and the apps you use. If your audio clips, start with gain and mic placement. If effects arrive late, review latency and live processing.
